Flags do not have to be brought in during foul weather unless you want to. Our flags are all weather flags and all weather flags can be properly flown in bad weather.
The flag code says flags must be properly illuminated, but doesn’t describe proper illumination. Flag experts agree this does not mean an individual light shining on the flag. Ambient light from street lights, porch lights and the like are totally acceptable lighting. As long as the lighting is enough for a person to recognize the flag and see its colors, it is considered proper illumination. The only restriction is that a flag should not be flown in total darkness. If that is your situation you have the option of bringing the flag in at night and putting it back in the morning or purchasing a solar powered light to illuminate the flag when ambient light is not sufficient.
